Folded and Draped: Jersey Waste Garments.
In July 2022 I undertook a residency at ArtHouse Jersey as part of the ‘Where Waste Meets Design’ exhibition. The exhibition showcased the potential of waste materials sourced from the island, and my brief was to make garments using these materials.
I created a pair of sculptural pieces which explore the contrasting properties such as drape, opacity and texture in the waste materials I worked with. The materials were manipulated through folding and draping to create sculptural silhouettes which play with light and shadow in the exhibition space.
